I was born and raised south of Crookston; my parents still reside on the family farm. I graduated from Crookston Public Schools and attended Concordia College. A local farmer Lonn Kiel and I were married 33 years ago. Lonn is truly my partner and my motivation; he is always encouraging me to reach further. About 25 years ago during beet harvest, Lonn needed someone to shred beet leaves, so I became the “shredder.” A few years later I am proud to say I acquired the job of planting sugar beets. Lonn and I shared the bookkeeping responsibilities. While I have been relieved of those particular duties, I still do the marketing of the crops.
We have been blessed with 4 children, 3 are married and have 12 grandchildren among them. We are very proud of each of them, it is a wonderful thing to see your children grow up and be productive citizens. I especially enjoy watching our grandchildren grow and develop their own personalities.
I have done a variety of volunteer activities, We are very active in our home church, Our Savior’s Lutheran where I sing in the choir, teach Sunday school, have served as the youth group leader, and taught music in Our Saviors’ Lutheran school.
In past years I have had the privilege of working with the knowledge bowl group at Crookston Public schools; I am on the SPOKES group for the Villa St Vincent Foundation. We help to enhance the surroundings for the residents at the Villa.
I have had the blessing of helping family members live out their ending days. It is a joy to be able to lend a hand, help to comfort, or just spending time with each of them. My Grandmother had dementia in her last years; it is amazing what you learn about a person, as you spend time with them.
I hope to continue this life of service by representing you in the Minnesota House.
Thank you for your time
